Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how UptimeIO.com ("UptimeIO", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you browse our website, log in to our dashboard, or configure uptime monitors.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text data files stored on your local computer or mobile device upon visiting a website. They allow our platform to recognize your active session, preserve user preferences (such as dark theme and region filters), and authenticate API requests.

Related browser storage mechanisms we utilize include:

  • Local Storage: Browser-scoped key-value records for UI dashboard settings.
  • Session Storage: Ephemeral state cleared automatically upon tab closure.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

2.1 Essential Cookies (Required)

These cookies are strictly required to operate the application safely and cannot be switched off:

Your cookie consent choice itself (uptimeio_cookie_consent) and your dashboard theme/timezone preferences are stored in your browser's local storage, not as cookies.

2.2 Functional & Preference (Local Storage)

These local storage keys retain display choices and dashboard layout configurations. They are not cookies and are never sent to our servers:

2.3 Analytics on Our Website (Only After You Accept)

We use PostHog for product analytics. Until you make a choice on the cookie consent banner, PostHog is not initialized, sets no cookies and collects nothing. You can change your choice at any time via the banner's "Cookie preferences" link. Session recording is not used on our website.

  • If you click "Accept": PostHog may store an identifier in cookies or local storage in your browser so that your visits can be recognized across pages and sessions. Usage events are tied to this identifier (and to your account if you are signed in) and are not anonymized.
  • If you click "Reject": PostHog stores nothing in your browser. We only count your visit anonymously: a one-way hash is calculated on the server from your IP address, browser user agent and our site hostname, together with a random value that changes daily and is deleted after that day's events are processed. The hash cannot be reversed, so visits on different days cannot be linked to each other or to you.

2.4 Analytics in the Dashboard and on Status Pages

Neither the dashboard nor public status pages use analytics cookies or store analytics data in your browser, so they do not show a consent banner.

  • Dashboard: PostHog keeps its identifier in memory only, for the current page load. Analytics, including masked session recordings, is on by default for signed-in customers and can be turned off in Settings > Account.
  • Status pages: page views are counted anonymously with the same daily-rotating server-side hash described above. A status page owner may separately enable their own Google Analytics, which only loads after the visitor allows it on that status page.

3. Third-Party Integrations

When configuring payment subscriptions, our payment processor (Dodo Payments) may place its own security verification cookies to prevent fraud. We do not load advertising or retargeting tracking pixels.

You can adjust cookie acceptance in your browser preferences. Instructions for major browsers:

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to accommodate new features or regulatory requirements. Material revisions will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this document.
