UptimeIO Monitoring Probes
How to recognize requests from UptimeIO probes, where they come from, and how to allowlist them.
Identifying our probes
Standard HTTP request signature
HTTP and HTTPS checks from UptimeIO send this User-Agent header:
User-Agent: UptimeIO-Monitor/1.0 (+https://uptimeio.com/monitoring-bot)
What the probes do
Probes send only the requests that the owner of the monitor has configured.
Single requests
Each check is one HTTP request using the method the monitor owner chose (GET by default). Probes do not load embedded images, run scripts, or render pages.
No crawling
Probes only request the URL configured in the monitor. They do not follow links or crawl or index your site.
Bounded frequency
Each monitor is checked at most once a minute on Pro and Scale, and once every 5 minutes on Free. Extra requests are sent only when a check fails and must be confirmed from other locations.
Certificate checks
HTTPS checks validate the certificate and record TLS handshake time and the certificate expiry date.
Probe locations and allowlisting
If a WAF, CDN, or firewall blocks automated traffic, allow requests that match the User-Agent above so that blocked checks are not reported as outages. Probes run from these three locations:
| Continent | Probe Locations | Infrastructure |
|---|---|---|
| Europe | Amsterdam, Netherlands | Vultr |
| North America | US West | Vultr |
| Asia-Pacific | Singapore | OVH |
Seeing traffic you did not expect?
Monitors are created by UptimeIO customers. If you think a monitor is pointing at a site it should not, or you want checks against your site to stop, email us with the URL and we will look into it.
